East Coast Music Hall of Fame Exhibit, Harrah’s Atlantic City, June 6-7, 2022
As part of the East Coast Music Hall of Fame’s 2022 Awards Gala, at Harrah’s Atlantic City, we decided to do a pop-up exhibit. As Chalie Horner is an ECMHoF Board Member and Pam and Charlie Horner chair the organization’s Museum & Memorabilia Committee, the task fell on us. We must say, we had an extremely talented and enthusiastic committee, including Marian & Frank Cicerale, Lance Rossi, Jimmy Wiener, Gene DiNapole and Bill Dussinger. A couple months before the Gala, we began planning the exhibit to display photos and memorabilia from 16 R&B and Doo Wop vocal groups that were 2019 and 2022 ECMHoF honorees. We purchased portable walls since we were not allowed to attach anything to the venue’s walls. We framed about 75 rare photos, sheet music, posters and rare records. We purchased four full size mannequins for the uniforms of Willie Winfield, Fred Parris, Jimmy Beaumont and Jay Black. We then had to rent a cargo van to transport them to Atlantic City and set them up. One of the highlights of the exhibit turned out to be the cut-out cardboard faces of famous singers for visitors to take photos with. Needless to say, the exhibit was a huge success and drew rave reviews.
