In May, 2001, the Remembering the Mills Brothers Society held a convention in Bellefonte PA, the ancestral home of the Mills family. To commemorate the event, the Mills Brothers Society assembled an exhibit related to the famous vocal group in a downtown art gallery. One of the highlights of the exhibit were 50 different pieces of Mills Brothers sheet music, all from the Classic Urban Harmony Archives. [To see many of the sheet music pieces, click Mills sheets.] Charlie Horner, serving as vice president of the organization, painstakenly framed each piece of sheet music in borderless glass frames and president, Dan Clemson, arranged for them to be hung on the walls on chronological order. Other Mills Brothers artifacts, including records, advertisements and flyers were viewable on tables and elsewhere. A video monitor played video clips of the Mills Brothers from different eras. The Mills Brothers (Donald and his son, John Mills) performed in town for us that weekend.
