For those who enjoy our multimedia presentations, we’ve been invited to speak at the Asbury Park Historical Society’s annual reorganization meeting about the 1956 aborted Frankie Lymon & the Teenagers concert at that city’s Convention Hall. The “riot” following the cancelling of the concert led Asbury Park’s City Council to ban Rock & Roll from the Boardwalk venues. This is an amazing story and we’ll lay out the details for you along with photos, music and film clips.
It all takes place at the Asbury Park Library, 500 1st Avenue, Asbury Park, NJ, on Thursday evening, January 16, beginning at 7 PM. The event is free and light refreshments will be served. You don’t have to be a member of the Asbury Park Historical Society to attend – all are welcomed. Of course, if you’d like to join or renew your yearly membership to the Society, you can do so there and we’d encourage you to do so. It’s a wonderful organization.
