The World Premiere of “Just Before the Dawn,” the documentary about the beginnings of Asbury Park’s rock scene and the legendary Upstage Club will take place during the Asbury Park Music and Film Festival on April 21, 2017.  The film will be shown at Asbury Park’s Paramount Theatre, followed by a Q&A session with filmmaker Tom Jones and then an ALL STAR ‘Upstage’ Jam with Jeff Kazee and The Upstage All Stars.  The Upstage All Stars include: Jeff Kazee, original E-Street Band Members members: David Sancious, Vini Lopez, and Ernest Carter will be participating, along with a special appearances by Southside Johnny, Chris Plunkett, Sonny Kenn, Ricky DeSarno, Joe Petillo, Richie Blackwell, Paul Whistler, Billy Ryan, Gerry Carboy, Albee Tellone, Tommy LaBella and the The Lakehouse Jr Pros.

Classic Urban Harmon’s own Charlie Horner makes an appearance in the film talking about black music from Asbury Park’s West Side, the roots of the 1970’s Rock Music scene.

Doors open at 6:30 PM on April 21.  Advanced tickets are required.

The Asbury Park Music & Film Festival runs from April 20 – April 23 and will benefit the underserved children in Asbury Park; one the most challenged youth communities in the country by providing music education, instruments and social connection opportunities.  Specifically, funds raised through the APMFF will support three programs including Hope Academy, The Hip Hop Institute, and the Asbury Park Summer Recreation Music Camp.
