On Sunday evening, February 11, 2018, Roxy & Dukes will celebrate 65 years of great doo wop singing by Peter A. Siciliano, the great bass singer of Nostalgia 5.  Pete began singing with the popular Philadelphia vocal group, the Illusions in 1953.  Over the years, his long career in the music business continued with Nostalgia 5, the Emeralds and now with the newest incarnation of Nostalgia 5.  Pete’s deep standout bass voice allows him to thrill audiences with songs made famous by the Ravens and the Spaniels’ Gerald Gregory.  Nostalgia 5, who will be singing all-acappella is known for their intricate harmonies and choice of complicated vocal arrangements.  This group is loaded with talent, including Ted Ziffer, Mike Impriano, Johnny Squillaciotti and Jim Tschantz.  As an extra bonus, the first 50 paying attendees/couples will receive a very limited commemorative CD of Pete Siciliano’s music career, including cuts by the Illusions, Nostalgia 5, the Emeralds and the current Nostalgia 5.  This CD was specially made for this event, so you’ll want to come out to Roxy & Dukes to get one.

The opening group on February 11 will be another great Philly acappella group, the Copians.  While the Copians don’t have as long a history as a group, individually they’ve also been singing most of their lives.  Also a talent laden group, the Copians include WRDV Radio’s Jim Bakay (formerly with Street Corner Five), Bill Keith (Charlie’s former radio co-host and former member of the Blendtones, A Moment’s Pleasure, Accords and Students), John Bishop (formerly of the Sound Masters), Bob “Bobski” Reilly (formerly of Neighbor’s Complaint and A Moment’s Pleasure) and Horace Brown (formerly of the Illusions – not the previously mentioned Illusions but a soul group by the same name).  Between Nostalgia 5 and the Copians this is going to be an evening of superb vocal harmony.

February 11 is the Sunday before Valentine’s Day giving us all an extra reason to celebrate.  Doors open at 7 PM, show at 8.  Free parking, food and drink available.  Admission is $20 and includes the free CD.  Roxy & Dukes is at 745 Bound Brook Rd, Dunellen NJ (central New Jersey).  Please email us for reservations at [email protected].
