The last Sunday in February is always time for Rev. Brenda Boone Productions & Higher Praise Community Choir of Hampton Roads’ Celebration of Legendary Black History Gospel Praise program.  We’ve been to this many times and it is always a memorable event.  This year’s program includes Rev. Thomas Spann & the Brooklyn All Stars, Rev. Luther Barnes & the Sunset Jubilares, Frankie Davis of the Golden Gate Quartet, Danny Hill & Group Determination, Van Jones & King David’s harp, Elder Ronald Harper & the Harmonizing Echoes and the Word singers.  Plus, Gospel vocalist Amelia Sears Goodman, the Gospel Travelers of Garysburg, NC, and Rev. Brenda Boone & the Higher Praise Community Choir.

The Brooklyn All Stars have been singing since 1950 and still include their founder, Rev. Thomas Spann, now 92 years old.

Our congrats to our friend Frankie Davis in receiving a gold record from the National Gold Album Awards, Santa Monica, CA, for the album, “Stand By Me Father,” that he recorded as lead of the Soul Stirrers in 1989. Frankie now sings with the Paris France based Golden Gate Quartet. He’s seen below with Rev. Brenda Boone. Frankie will be presented with the award on the Rev. Brenda Boone Productions & Higher Praise Community Choir of Hampton Roads’ Celebration of Legendary Black History Gospel Praise program.

It all takes place on Sunday, February 25, 2018, at 4 PM, at the Village Church aka Mt. Sinai Church, 900 Portsmouth Blvd, Portsmouth, VA.  $20 donation in advance and $25 at the door.  Contact 757-477-3828 or 757-729-8344.
