Classic Urban Harmony
Celebrates Vocal Group Harmony
And the Masqueraders’ 50th
Anniversary
June 10, 2012, Morristown, NJ
Pam and Charlie Horner's Classic Urban Harmony Celebration of
Vocal Harmony on June 10, 2012,
began as a celebration of the Masqueraders 50th Anniversary but soon turned into
so much more. It became a historic event including a concert featuring
several styles of vocal harmony including 1950's R&B, Doo Wop, Gospel and Soul
harmony. Of course, anytime we can unite five original members of the sixties and
seventies soul group, the Masqueraders, the occasion becomes special.
The group, has only sung together as a quintet once before since 1980, and
that was at our 5th wedding anniversary in 2010. The Masqueraders
include original lead singer Abdur-Rahman Hatim along with Harold
Thomas, Robert Wrightsil, David Sanders and Sam Hutchins. As with our
anniversary we brought three members in from Memphis and two from Dallas. Best known for their R&B chart
records, "I Ain't Got To Love Nobody Else," "I'm Just An Average Guy" and
"(Call Me) The Traveling Man", the Masqueraders again provided a
spectacular ending to the concert.
Our invited guests included 70 vocal harmony singers (including
those performing) and noted media and vocal harmony enthusiasts from around
the country. We (Pam & Charlie) produced and MC'd the concert ourselves.
Because of the significance
of the event, we've posted hundreds of photos and will post numerous short video clips, over the next few weeks.
