We are thrilled to announce the addition of the Cameos to our March 4, 2017, all acappella Doo Wop Explosion II at Monmouth University in West Long Branch, NJ.  The Cameos are extremely popular and are often referred to as “New Jersey’s favorite oldies group”.  The Cameos trace the group’s origins back to the early 1960’s.  The current group has been together for about ten years.  They normally perform as an eight person vocal and instrumental band, but on our Doo Wop Explosion II, the Cameos’ four vocalists will sing an all acappella set.  The four singers include Danny Ugarte (formerly of the Cordials on the Seven Arts label, Eric & the Plazas on the Production label, and Nicky Addeo & the Plazas on the Revelation label); Chris Cerullo (formerly of Vito & the Twilights on the Starlight label and Remembrance on the Acousti-Pella label); Joe Basilone (of the Five Reasons and brother of the lead of the Savoys); and Arno Petronzio (vocalist, musician and music arranger for many groups).

The addition of the Cameos brings the total number of acappella groups on the Doo Wop Explosion to seven:  Pookie Hudson’s Spaniels, Vito & the Salutations, the Cameos, Re-MemberThen, Quiet Storm, A Perfect Blend and the Copians.  Tickets are on sale now.  Visit Monmouth University’s Center for the Arts to purchase tickets.
