We are saddened to report that Eulis Mason, great lead of Charles Moffitt’s Velours and before that the Martells ,passed away on October 31, 2016.  Eulis first recorded “Carol Lee” with the Martells in 1959. on the Bella label.  He followed that by leading the group on “Forgotten Spring” in 1960.  Eulis became the lead of Charles Moffitt’s Velours in the mid-1980’s when they became a mainstay at the United in Group Harmony shows.  After Moffitt was murdered in 1986, Eulis continued to keep the Velours going, recording some magnificent songs like “C’est La Vie,” I Wish You Love,” “I Apologize” for labels like Starlight, Clifton and Classic Artists.

We’ve known Eulis since the UGHA days.  This is a terrible loss to our musical family.  Our sincere condolences to Eulis’ family and friends.
